A bathroom comes in all sizes and shapes. Did you ever look at this room and think, "I want to do a make over but can't afford it." I have also said this and what I like to do is come up with a plan that will do the make over in phases. At the same time each phase has to have an outcome of the room looking good.

If the budget is right for you, go ahead and plan the entire make over. If you want to do phases consider different areas of the room you want to redo. The other option is to take one or two items, replace them and you have a new look that will fit your budget. Here are some simple and basic thoughts to get your creativity in motion.

1. Are you planning on redoing your floor?



2. Thinking of a new tub, shower, commode, or all of them?



3. If room permits, do you want a one piece counter top or two separate ones?



4. Think about the option of painting or wallpapering, and blending in other colors in the living area around this room.



5. Do you want to incorporate a theme or certain color scheme?

These questions above are just some things that come to mind when looking at your bathroom and doing a make over. When doing a make over in phases, I like to look at the overall plan of the make over and what are the first steps in doing this type of project. Your budget will play into the phases as well as what are your priorities. Once your plan is in place, the prep work will begin. There are the obvious investments in a make over such as flooring, new tub, shower, sink, and or commode.

These are your typical big items that are dealt with when doing a make over. One idea is to consider just doing a couple of things for now. I wanted to give you a few simple ideas on doing simple improvements for your bathroom. Below are a few photos to create a new look without doing a total make over.














The first photo shows you an old faucet that has been on the sink for 25 years. You can see the discoloration on the metal parts. The second option shows you new faucets. If your budget allows, you can also purchase a matching sink bowl to go with the faucets. Just changing out your faucet really adds a new look to your bathroom.
















The pedestal sink is a great option for small spaces, but also creates a crisp and eloquent look. The pedestal sink works great in any style bathroom. One piece full counter top is another simple idea for you. Expand your area where you can have all your necessity items as well as room to display collectables that might blend into a theme into your bathroom. The full length counter top or a pedestal sink creates a completely new look for this room.
















Another great option is a stand up shower and a separate commode area. This gives privacy as well as an open look to the entire area.


The last photo is one of my favorites. The garden tub today is very popular. Not only do you get the chance to unwind and relax, but some of you can install a garden tub that is near a window that lets you see the outside beauty of nature or your gardens. Your cat can even enjoy the tub area with a bowl of water. Candles and other items such as house plants add to garden tub. If you have enough space, garden tubs are a great addition.

Simple ideas of doing small things to your bathroom, can create a wonderful and new look. If you are considering a make over, think about the option of doing it in phases, or if the budget is real tight, do some less expensive changes to one or two items. That little bit of redecorating, results in the feeling of a brand new look and feel just for you.
