Blending Floors Between Adjoining Rooms

We are enclosing a small screened in back porch to become the laundry room. Had planned to use the same vinyl that's in the kitchen but just found out it's no longer produced. The rooms adjoin but the floors do not touch because of the small step down. Its a dark green vinyl with flecks of white and black. A nine inch tile look. I need help in knowing where to start to finding something to blend.

There are a couple of options for you to think about. Keep the floor theme in a vinyl and consider using a simple pattern of a lighter shade of green in the laundry area. Match the lighter green shade with the darker color. You have the flecks of black and white with the darker shade floor. A soft lighter shade almost solid green would accent the kitchen floor nicely.

Another option is to have indoor outdoor carpet put in the porch area. Indoor outdoor carpet is inexpensive and easy to install. You can also consider a lighter shade of green for the carpet, to balance out your colors with the darker green. Of course you can go in neutral tones also.

I am not sure of your geographic location, but many areas have local chain stores that carry both of these items. Also a floor or carpet store. If you need suggestions, please let us know.
