Camp Or Cabin Decorating - Keeping In Touch With Nature
Camp or cabin decorating can be a lot of fun. Many people today have different
retreats for the summer months, winter pleasure, or year around living.
One idea I like to recommend is wherever you are located, think about doing
this theme with keeping nature in mind. Many of your accents and accessories
can be used from materials of nature. Walls done in an attractive paneling,
knotty pine, used in the entire area or certain rooms. Wainscoting around parts of
your walls, and pictures of nature throughout the living space. This page will give
you some basic ideas in decorating your retreat. There are a few ways I like to
visualize this particular theme. Think in terms of a woodsy look, by a lake side, or
nestled in a majestic mountain setting.
When decorating a camp or cabin, go outside and see the beauty that surrounds
the place. Here is a great example of a
cabin decor in the mountains.
What do you enjoy about being there? Is it the quietness of the entire
area, a place to unwind and relax, a place you can explore your hobbies and things
you enjoy doing? Take these into account when planning your decor. Create your rooms
with the attitude of nature that surrounds you. Whether it is fishing, hiking,
boating, or just a place to relax, put your own personality into some themes
and make the living area your unique place. Lets take a look at a couple of
ideas for decorating your own haven.
One idea is to keep within the earth tones throughout and use
neutral colors.
Neutral colors create a soft look and pleasing to be around. Your furniture can
be different shades of earth tones, and your accents and accessories can either
be all neutral tones or bring in a secondary or complimentary color or colors.
The photo is a simple natural wooden box, a couple of old books, and a small
vase of fresh
Spring Bouquet Viburnum flowers.
Of course you can put your own style into action and put around a couple of baskets,
pictures on the wall of the surround outside area, photos of family and friends. This
makes the atmosphere cozy and warm. Consider adding some deeper tones to the earth look if you want to bring in the
secondary shades.
Plaids or stripes bring out this theme's look.
I also like to bring in the old time feel to the living area. The kitchen can
be done with accessories of old utensil's.
This creates a wonderful old time feel. Use a wooden table or a picnic
table in the kitchen or dinning area, creating that outdoor look. Take a
picnic basket and hang on the wall, or display on an end table or other piece of
furniture. Another idea using the wood or old time feel is to put a few rocking
chairs in different rooms. There are many options for beds. Bunk beds work
great and are also space savers if your room is limited. Post beds create
a great look, and any rugs can compliment your walls, curtains and floor.
An accessory you can use to create nature is by taking a drying rack and
add a little spice to your life.
Even your family cat can be part of your camp or cabin. A great idea off this particular idea
is to add some pots of fresh
spices and herbs throughout your camp or cabin.
Plants give the room a fresh look and also brings back the basic theme of incorporating
nature. From the nature idea go one step further and create that country look.
Does you have a fireplace? Ah, so many of us think of
deer rack or stuffed bear above the mantel. Create your own look by taking your theme and displaying
accessories along the mantle and pictures or other items above, if there is space.
If your retreat is near a lake, pictures of the lake or your boat are great throughout
different rooms. The different tones and shades of your lake can become your color scheme
in different rooms. A single accent light on a table with blue tones creates a warm feel.
