Formal Holiday Decorating Ideas

Formal Holiday Decorating Ideas

Formal holiday decorating ideas that will add some eloquence to this special time of year.

When you think about an eloquent look at the holidays, what comes to mind? What colors would you want to use to create this style of decorating?

When I think of an eloquent and formal look, the colors gold and white come to mind. Gold is rich in appearance and white represents crisp and clean.

Think about the different rooms in your own interior space. Do you have an overall theme for the holidays, or do you like to decorate with a combination of themes and colors?

This page will share some simple ideas of giving your own interior space an eloquent and fresh look for the holidays.

The photo on the right is a simple way of sprucing up a coffee table, countertop, or accenting any piece of furniture. The gold candle holder compliments the rich red color in the candle. Very simple holiday decoration that allows you to make a room warm and cozy.

Both of these decorations below were done on an end table. You can use other different accents to display your Christmas collectables. This formal look is done by putting a green, in a slightly sage tone table cloth over the end table. I like to make sure the table cloth covers the entire end table.

Eloquent Glass Candle Holders and Porcelin Collectables

There are five figurines on the end table. They are from a collection of porcelain figurines my sister from Ohio has sent me over the years. Three different size Christmas trees with bells on them, and two carolers. Notice how I have five, which is a odd number. Each of the porcelain figures have a touch of gold on them. They also have red and green secondary accent colors, which really gives you the holiday colors.

I took gold garland and put miniature white lights with the garland. This blends in the figurines with the garland. The white lights adds to this style look of this simple Christmas decorating. The white lights also compliment the white porcelain, which creates that rich and formal look.

The second picture shows you a little different idea. I used the same tablecloth but took three glass candle holders and formed them into a triangle. On either side, I added a couple of white porcelain sleds with bears in them. Once again the sleds have a touch of gold in them, and also a couple of gold bells. I kept the gold garland and miniature white lights. One of the candle holders has a red rim around the base. One a green, and one a gold. Definitely Christmas colors. Five different items creating another dynamic look.

Each of the photos above gives you a look of eloquence and formality. The first picture shows a formal table setting. A little creativity with a tablecloth, napkins, dishes, and some accessories can give you a dynamite look during the holiday season.

Gold and white are great colors for this style of decorating. Use these two colors and create a clean and crisp look.

The third photo gives you another option of going a little laid back with the pine cones complimenting the red candles and the decorated tree in the background. Simple ideas to create an inviting environment.

As far as decorating with a formal flare, there are other ways to create this look. White ribbons and decorative bows with gold and green looks delightful. Garland is optional, and you can use fresh or artificial greenery.

I personally like the miniature white lights with a formal look, but use your own personality to create a simple Christmas or holiday decoration. Think about any collectables you may have. Whether you are looking for those formal holiday decorating ideas or an informal Chrismtas look,

When decorating at Christmas or seasonal holidays, you also have the option of using both informal and eloquent decor. I like to do both. If your living space lends to an eloquent look, continue your holiday decorating with the same flare.

Another option is to have a rich appearance in one room, and create a country or fun look in another room. The main objective in holiday decorating is the same as any interior project, balance and blend color tones to create a relaxing and enjoyable interior space.

These simple Christmas decorating ideas can be done in a short period of time. Do be careful when putting your garland with the lights around your figurines. I have had to glue a few of them from time to time.

I hope this page has gotten your decorative juices flowing for Christmas and the upcoming holiday season.
