Happy Halloween
Halloween - Simple Ideas To Decorate For The Season
Halloween creates the atmosphere for the fall season. Orange, yellow, and red
take over for many of you with the outdoors with the change in the season. One of the things
I love to do when there is a change in season, is to decorate the inside to create a look the flows
with the outside. Do you decorate inside for Halloween? One idea is to take accents and
accessories that you already have around the house and create an inside look that
resembles an upcoming holiday as well as what is happening outdoors.
You don't have to spend a lot of money decorating for different holidays and seasons.
Think about the different items you have around your living space. Are there different
things you have collected over the years to display at holidays and other special occasions?
I don't know about you, but being married for 32 years. Tom and I, or should I say myself have
held onto a lot of different decorations. What I like to do is get a little creative each year
a certain holiday approaches and decorate something different. It could be a different piece of
furniture, or arranging collectables on different tables, buffets, hutch, or pianos. Miniature accent
lighting is great for capturing the holidays. Below are some simple and
easy ideas that I have done. Inexpensive, as I have had all the material from previous years.

This photo is of a close up of three characters sitting in a rocking chair. One of my sisters
made the pumpkin, cat, and witch years ago for me. I have kept them and use them in different
areas. I have had them on the back of the couch, on the floor, by a plant, and this year decided
to put them in a rocking chair. I took a blanket that I have used for a
safari theme
and turned it over. The solid black color intensifies the effect of the Halloween season. Three simple characters took less then five
minutes to put this together.
I love the pumpkin lights accenting the different candles and figurines on the piano. The basket with the fall silk flowers
creates the focal point with this decor. The white scarf I kept on the piano to bring out the vibrant orange and other seasonal
colors. Simple idea of taking a few Halloween decorations and creating a soothing look for a piano or table.
These next to pictures create a look of both the fall season and the holidays approaching. In the
silk flower arranging page,
you can see how the buffet was decorated before the holiday season drew closer. One of the things I do in decorating is to intermingle the
seasons as one is in and and another just beginning. Notice the decorative lights, they are flowers. The leaf scarf on the buffet creates
the mood of fall as well as flowers that still may be bloom.
This is a close up of the buffet with the flower lights, reminding us of summer, and the holiday
decorations. Each allows you to think about the time of year and the transition into the cooler
seasons that lie ahead. I make sure all the colors blend together with the room such as the walls, floors, and accents.
An old sled can be used anytime of the year for decorating. Putting different seasonal and
holiday decor gives this accessory a strong accent in a room. This is a simple decoration of
combining a witch with a couple of plastic pumpkins. The broom is from a part of an artificial arrangement
done a while ago. The silk leaves create the atmosphere of fall and Halloween.
A buffet or hutch is a perfect place to create a Halloween delight using goreds, little pumpkins, Indian corn, fresh fall flowers,
and also a little vase with freshly cut colorful sprigs of your favorite shrub. The miniature white lights
create a clean look to show off each item on the buffet. Another simple and easy decoration idea for the fall
holiday and season. This type of decoration can continue on right through Thanksgiving.
This photo is without the lights during the day. You can actually see each gored and other items. This also
shows you how it looks during the day compared to the lighting in the evening hours. Soothing look to any room any time of day or night.
The final photo is one of my favorite seasonals things to do. The miniature pumkpin lights along a fireplace. It just sets the tone of a room and especially
in the evening and night time hours. Great place to relax and enjoy the colors of the lights as well as the atmosphere of the cooler
season that is arriving.
Decorating for Halloween can be fun. Look at different items you have around your living space. Think of the colors of the season. A reminder also
is to think about your outdoors. As the
fall and Halloween approach,
go through your outdoor checklist as well. As each holiday, special event approaches go ahead and get a little creativity flowing and
decorate to show off your own personality. Your living space, your personality, your enjoyment! We would love to hear and see how you
