I need help accessorizing a shelf.

Help with Accessories

I am trying to figure out how to accessorize a shelve / half wall in my home. At this time the only thing I have is a couple wooden figures from a trip.

I like browns and natural colors. Any ideas?

Hi Charlotte, Kimberly here from interior-decorating-ideas-for-you. Thank you for asking the question about your shelf, and also for sending a picture.

There are a few things you could do. When you have a tall open space like you do, an idea is to put something tall in the middle. With the size of your area, you could put five items along the open top space. A thought is a flower vase in the center with silk or real cut flowers in them. Play off the neutral colors, and can be done if you use silk flowers. You can bring the height down next on either side of the vase with your figurines and then candles, or taller candles then the figurines. You can also stay in the neutral tones with candles.

I like the idea of something taller in the center and then balance it out with smaller items next to it.

As far as your shelfs below the open shelf, think in odd numbers. If you want a full look, put five to seven items on a shelf. If you want a simple look, put three items on each shelf. You can put them straight across or stagger them. I noticed a picture on the shelf. Use that as a focal point in the center with other items on each side.

I hope this has helped some and given you some ideas to go with. There are other items besides a vase and candles on top shelf. Use items you already have on the shelfs below.
