Ideas For Arranging Your Favorite Collectable Items

Here are some simple ideas for arranging your favorite collectable items. I think we all have some form of collectables around our interior living space. Are you the type of person like myself, that finds an item, buys it, and before you know it, you have a collection?

I have many different interests and over the years have collected many different figurines, trinkets, and other items. There are hundred of different things we all collect. Think about what you have collected over a period of time. Do you have them displayed so you can enjoy them? I wanted to do a page of some of the ways I take a variety of different collectable items and arrange them.

One of the first suggestions to is think once again in the mind set of one the basic rule in interior decorating, odd numbers! Below are a few simple ideas for arranging some different types of my favorite items.

Santa Claus Collectables
This photo shows Santa Claus that I have collected over the years. This arrangement is what I called a mass arrangement. There are 13 Santa's in the picture on an open shelf. If you notice the figurines are positioned so the taller ones are in the background, but not overshadowed by the smaller ones. I will actually arranged all my collectables the same way I position plants in gardens and landscapes.

Take a look at the site map of my other site, landscape solutions for you and get some ideas for your outside decorating. The mass arranging is a great way to display items that you have a large quantity. Another suggestion is you don't have to do seasonal collectables just at that specific holiday. I will display these Sant's year around in a room or even hallway that match into other colors. Mass arranging is a great way to show off the items you treasure as well as an investment. Ideas to help you decorate!

Steins Or Mugs
Many of you may collect steins or mugs. Steins are wonderful items to display in any room in your living space. Some of you may have specific steins or mugs that have special meaning to you. Make them a focal accessory in a room by displaying them in area that can be seen throughout the room. Notice how I have three mugs that each have their own identity. I have also displayed these three steins in a triangle form on a shelf. Simple way to arrange and enjoy!

Fun Figurines
Glass Collectables
These three figurines I consider the anywhere you want to put them collectables. My sister sent them to me and I love changing them from room to room periodically. Notice again how I arranged them in a triangle, with the larger figurine in the center and the smaller items on either side. This is balancing your accessories.

Each collectable is colorful so can be put in different color rooms. These three figurines can also be put in a whimsical theme base room. The next photo is of three glass items. Glass or porcelain collectables are wonderful items to display throughout your living space. A china cabinet or corner hutch will work well for breakable items. This glass cat and two ducks create a little formality in a room. These three items also allows you to expand on a theme base room.

Ornament Collection
This shelf with these Maine ornaments and other small collectables are one of my favorite collection we have in our home. These collectable ornaments and other nick knacks are very special to my husband and I as they were given to us by my mother. My mom passed away in the year 2000, and each of our family member enjoys looking at them. The shelf is displayed in a central location of the family room so the ornaments can be viewed from all angles.

If you have those treasured items that are small or medium in size, a shelf like this or similar will work. These ornaments will also work well in a beach or Caribbean theme room. Display shells and small rocks is also an option. This idea is a very special way to have those special memories right in view. The next photo is of three glass items. Glass or porcelain collectables are wonderful items to display throughout your living space. A china cabinet or corner hutch will work well for breakable items. This glass cat and two ducks create a little formality in a room. These three items also allows you to expand on a theme base room.

Fun And Funky Figurines
The last photo is what I like to call the idea of the fun and funky figurines. Do you have any collectables that really have no defined theme, or are different then any other ones you have? These three items are displayed on a long and narrow shelving, which is part of a large piece of furniture. Their different, yet colorful and gives a room some personality. The shelves are small and placing one on each shelf in the center will also balance the area out.

Lets say you have three collectables you want to display, but five small shelves. Don't be afraid to put a couple of totally different items on the other two shelves. If you do this, put the three similar items in the center three shelves, and other two on the top and bottom. Great way to display odds and ends!

Creating and arranging your collectables should come from a combination of following some basic interior design guidelines, and more importantly displaying your very own personality. I hope these simple ideas of arranging a few collectables gets your juices flowing to create your room or rooms with colorful and meaning collectables.
