I'm in the process of redoing my Mom's bedroom she lives with us and she will be 80 in Aug, in good health. I can't afford to do a whole lot so I thought I would just paint the walls a different color. I have some leftover paint from another project white and bright green. I mixed a little white with the green to tone it down some and She likes the color. It's like a light mint green. My question is the floors, what should I put down to match she doesn't want carpet. And neither do I.

Painting Room And What Type of Floors

Hi Sandra, Kimberly here from interior decorating ideas for you. Thank you for asking the question on matching your mom's floor with the paint you are using.

You sound like me with mixing left over paint and creating a room. Love the mint green color and great budget mind on your part.

As far as the floor, a couple of questions for you before responding. If you both don't want carpet, do you have a wood sub flooring, or a cement slab?

You could put hard woods down, but can get costly. You could also put laminate wood, or a one piece floor. The one piece floor may be a good option budget wise for you. You can purchase the one piece floor at chain stores or a speciality floor store. You could get a patterned one piece or a neutral and put accent rugs around the floor to soften the look.
