Shower curtains are a necessity in so many bathrooms today. With all the different colors and themes out today, sometimes it can get overwhelming trying to match up the exact curtain with towels. I try to look at a bathroom as a great accent room to blend in other color tones that are throughout your living space.

Whether it is a main bathroom, adjoining bathroom, or a powder room, you can compliment your base or foundation color with different tones in the bathroom. Here are three different curtains, and some simple ideas of matching it with color coordinated towels.

The first shower curtain shows you two different ideas. One is a theme curtain. The second idea is taking that theme and matching the curtain with different colors that blend well with the the main theme. The sun and moon theme is very popular today. There are many different ways to incorporate the moon and stars in a bathroom, as well as a connecting bedroom. Light and dark blues are the main color with this theme. Lets take a look at four different possible suggestions of towels when using the sun and moon theme.


















The first set of towels is a very simple idea of using the a solid light tone bath towel, and blending it in with a dark blue wash cloth and hand towel. The dark blue will bring out the color in the shower curtain. Inexpensive and simple!

This next set of towels allows the deep blue tones to be highlighted in the bath towel. The hand towel and wash cloth are complimentary to the sun and moon theme. Notice how the hand towel and wash cloth blend in with the yellow to gold colors of the curtain.














The third set of towels creates the same simple look as the first set, but I wanted to bring in not only the lighter bath towel and the deep blue color, but thought it would add a little more by bringing in the light blue wash cloth. Here we are blending in three different color tones from the curtain.

The last set of the sun and moon theme gives you another option into taking the theme a step further. The bold color towels compliment the lighter tone shower curtain. This allows you to blend in both darker shades and lighter shades. To me, doing theme and color coordinated towels and curtain, gives a bathroom a whole new dimension.

Ah, the wonderful palm trees and decorating with this idea. This shower curtain creates a soft look for a bathroom. Palm trees are also popular today, especially in beach houses and tropical locations. I like the idea of blending in solid color towels. The warm tones of the towels compliment the curtain.

The first set of towels is a solid neutral tone. The bath, hand towel, and wash cloth are all in same color. This is a great idea if you have a deeper tone wall, such as green, or darker neutral color. The bath towel is in the neutral color and as you can see I brought in the green tone from the curtain in the hand towel and wash cloth. This is a great way to blend in the color tones. A little extra tip is to add a few pictures of palm trees or shells. A light wood frame that matches the tone of the curtain will add to the overall look of the bathroom. Consider some photos of shells, beach, or tropical plants. This creates the entire room with a true feel of a tropical paradise.















The last set of pictures starts with a black shower curtain. Black is bold and a great way to give this color curtain a boost, is to introduce another color along with the black. Bring in a neutral bath towel and add a crisp look with a burgundy hand towel and wash cloth. The burgundy and neutral tones can create a masculine look as well as making a clear color statement. You could even go a step further by adding a lighter burgundy tone, creating three different complimentary colors to the curtain.

















The final photo gives you a different look to use with the solid black curtain. A black and white hand towel and wash cloth, along with an off white bath towel. The off white bath towel has gray tones. This is a great way to take a softer shade in the black family and add a little warmth to the bathroom.

These three shower curtains above are only a fraction of what is available to all of us today. The ideas also reflect an inexpensive way to accent your bathroom. Whatever your foundation color of the room is, blend in a shower curtain and towels that will compliment the walls as well as other accents and accessories.
