Wallpaper And Paint In The Same Room
Wallpaper and Paint can be done in the same room. There are different
ways to go about planning this type of decorating. Getting a little creative
can bring about a wonderful new look for any room. Lets take a look at a
few different ways that you can decorative with these two methods.
The first two illustrations show you a couple of options for papering and painting
each wall. For simplicity sake, I will use the standard eight foot wall. When working
with paper and paint, you can paper the top half five feet and paint the bottom
half three feet.
You can also reserve that and paper the top half three feet, and
paint the bottom half five feet. If you are using a border, you will deduct the
height and width of your
wallpaper border.
One of the keys to decorating any wall, is to properly
prepare
your walls whether you are papering or painting. This is also where you can begin to make a statement
with the room. If you want your wallpaper to be the main focal point and paint as the
complimentary color, paper the five feet and paint the three. Your main goal is
to balance the room. Below are three different color schemes and ideas for using them.
The first photo shows you the sun and moon theme paper. Here again you have the option
of making the paper the focal point or the accent. With the paper are three different
blue color tones. I love the first idea of painting part of the room with a
sponge look.
This adds some texture to the room. The other two blue tone paint lightens up the room
with having the darker color wallpaper. You could also consider painting in an off white with
a little gray added to the paint pigmentation. For accessories bring out the gold tone in some of the moon
and stars with gold picture frames or mirror. This is a fun theme to play with a variety of
ideas.
Any flower paper will create an exciting look to a room. This picture shows you a bright and
warm colors of the melon and cayenne orange tone, along with green and a base color of yellow. You
can use matching paint off any of these colors. One idea is to blend in a couple of colors in doing
the walls as well as the trim or woodwork.
You can also paint the woodwork in a stark white to give the
room a clean and crisp look. If you want to soften the woodwork, blend in a very light yellow color or
an off white that has a little yellow or green pigmentation. These colors in this paper are also
great for decorating in other rooms near by.
The last photo creates a little different effect for a room. There are a few options for using
these three colors and some wallpaper. You can use just one color to accent the paper with painting
the three feet or painting the five feet. You could also get a little funky and do one wall in another
purple color tone.
Now if you are brave, consider papering one wall, and painting the other three
walls. Your paper wall is a complimentary accent to the room. Lets go a little beyond that since
we are working with soft color tones. Paper one wall, and paint the other three walls a different
shade of purple, like you see in the illustration. The purple tones are soft enough that it will
keep your room balanced. You can also do this options with other light tones. If you are working
with bold or darker shades, be careful not to overpower the room with too many color tones.
It doesn't matter what your preference is to combining a room with some wallpaper and paint.
Take the right steps in preparing the walls and balancing the room with the complimentary paint
and paper. Papering and painting allows you also to use different matching colors in your
accents and accessories. Using these two methods in decorating a room is a wonderful way
to do a make over, or create a dynamite look to a new room. Go ahead and have some
fun painting and papering your next interior decorating project.
